2008 was Oregon's year to host the Puddle Duck Racing Championships, and as the defacto fleet commodore, I chose to hold them during the Toledo Wooden Boat Show. The call went out, and the boats started coming in.
I want you to take particular notice of this boat, Oops! #250,
built by Mike of Waldport. The boat is a Bolger Brick that got a second
life by having the profile trimmed to PDR specs, but the real story is
Mike, himself. See that little canister sitting on the seat? That's Mike's
oxygenator. That's right, a guy who needs an assistive device just to
breath brought his boat to the races. Ya ain't gonna see that at the Olympics.
Mike, you are my new personal hero and I hope I approach my golden years with at least a portion of your vigor and interest.
